Cynthia Erivo Wore a Very Elphaba-Coded Manicure to the 2024 Oscars

Cynthia Erivo is bound to be “Fashionable” on the Oscars pink carpet together with her bejeweled, negative-space manicure, which seems to be — you guessed it — “Defying Gravity.” (In case you missed it: Erivo stars within the highly-anticipated Depraved movie-musical out this fall.)

Erivo turned the Oscars into the Oz-cars with an all-green ensemble that nods — truly, extra like screams and factors — to her position as Elphaba, the famously-green witch. She accomplished the look with emerald jewellery and the aforementioned manicure, which was an adjunct in its personal proper: Erivo’s nails have been bedazzled with crystals. Her thumbs, particularly, have been utterly coated with a mixture of clear- and emerald-toned jewels.
